Airports & Baggage Handling Systems
The sky is the limit when it comes to ICM’s airport services. We have worked at some of the world’s largest airports, upgrading everything from baggage handling and conveyor systems to new passenger boarding bridges and screening systems. We are your one-stop shop to get it done safely, on time and with the highest quality, all while meeting the critical needs of an operating facility.
Our Airport & Baggage Handling Expertise
ICM specializes in the delivery of mission-critical airport and aviation infrastructure, partnering with the world’s leading airlines, airport authorities, equipment manufacturers and general contractors to build facilities that perform flawlessly from day one. Our experience spans across local, national and international airports where operational continuity, security and regulatory compliance are non-negotiable.
ICM brings deep familiarity with FAA requirements, federal procurement processes, airline operational standards and OEM installation criteria. This extensive knowledge allows us to anticipate constraints, align stakeholders early and deliver with accuracy in some of the most demanding construction environments in the industry.
ICM self-performs with seven union trades, enabling a fully integrated, end-to-end delivery model that reduces coordination risk, accelerates schedules and minimizes disruption within active airports. This approach is especially critical when working alongside airlines and equipment manufacturers in secure, operational facilities where safety, sequencing and precision matter at every step.
Safety and quality are foundational to how we operate. Consistently recognized with AGC CSEA safety awards, ICM maintains a proactive, uncompromising safety culture that protects our workforce while meeting the stringent requirements of airport authorities and federal oversight agencies—regardless of project size or complexity.
ICM is also AISC-certified for both structural steel fabrication and erection and is among a select group of Colorado contractors holding dual certification as a steel erector and building fabricator. This capability is critical for aviation projects requiring long-span structures, heavy equipment integration and tight tolerance installation—reinforcing our ability to deliver complex airport facilities safely, efficiently and to the highest standards.
Core Services for Airport & Baggage Handling Projects
Airport & Baggage Handling Projects
- Upgraded and expanded the third terminal baggage handling system at Chicago O’Hare International Airport using Daifuku-supplied equipment. The project included the installation of over 14,000 feet of new conveyor systems, four flat-plate baggage claim carousels, and 4,000 feet of catwalks and handrails, enabling the terminal to add 22 additional makeup units.
- Supported the expansion and modernization of Denver International Airport by delivering work across multiple concourses and core infrastructure systems. Major projects included the replacement of antiquated water chillers in the central utility plant, expansion of escalator capacity in Concourse A, and the installation of a new Daifuku-supplied baggage handling system in Concourse A.
- Upgraded Saipan International Airport’s baggage handling and EDS systems so that it was modernized and in compliance with FAA regulations. The work was challenging due to the remote nature of Saipan, which is a small island in the Western Pacific.
